Safety Saturdays on the first Saturday of the month (3/1) from 12:30 to 4:00 at the
ILADD Sunshine Barn (4025 Whitestown Parkway). Please note this is the last class
in the current Safety Skills Class series.
Safety Saturday will discuss the topics of Technology for a Safer Home and Personal Safety / Self-Defense Skills. Technology for a Safer Home will discuss technology that is readily available such as Smart Home security systems, Smart Locks and Entry Systems, Video Doorbells, Indoor and Outdoor Surveillance Cameras, Fire and Carbon Monoxide Safety, Smart Lighting, and Voice Assistance. We will focus on technology that can be utilized within the family home or introduced upon moving into an independent living situation to provide support, safety, and reassurance to persons with IDD and their families. The Personal Safety / Self-Defense Skill session will be taught by an individual familiar with these techniques who will teach and show us how to protect ourselves in a variety of home and community situations. Registration is required for this event.
